The Oklahoma Sooners are one win away from the College World Series finals after hanging on to beat the Georgia Bulldogs 4-3 on Monday night in Omaha.

Xander Mercurius threw a gem to pick up the first win of his career, going 7.1 innings pitched, allowing just three earned runs against one of the best offenses in college baseball. He allowed six hits and two walks while striking out a career high nine batters in the win.

The Sooners jumped out to a 3-0 lead in the first inning when Jason Walk doubled deep to right-center field. Walk came in on Deightan LaChance's fielder's choice. One batter later, Jaxon Willits took a 2-2 offering off the top of the wall for a two-run home run.

After Georgia got on the board at the top of the fourth, Brendan Brock homered to get it back and keep the Sooners up three.

All three of Georgia's runs came on solo home runs. Mercurius never allowed the Bulldogs to string together runners on base. Reliever Cleveland Jackson took over in the eighth and earned the save, working around situations with the tying run at second base in both the eighth and ninth innings.

Oklahoma has been arguably the hottest team in baseball since upsetting Georgia Tech in back-to-back wins in Atlanta, and they've carried that over into the College World Series with wins over Alabama and now Georgia. The Sooners have done the impossible after struggling through conference play.

While the Sooners wait on their next opponent in the College World Series, here's how social media reacted to the win.
