MANHATTAN — Kansas State basketball has had a knack recently for being a talking point on social media. The Wildcats were the top topic, once again, after the school decided to fire Jerome Tang.

K-State announced Tang's firing on Sunday, Feb. 15, stating it was for cause. The characterization of his firing has sparked further discussion on social media, while Tang has also released a statement saying he would fight it.

The Wildcats' fanbase is happy with the decision, as frustration had built over the last two seasons. National voices agree that Kansas State and Tang were trending toward parting ways, but it's hard to find many who agree with the "for cause" label.

Here is the social media reaction to Kansas State's decision to part ways with Tang.

Why would you want the Kansas State job after this? Can't get upset and go off on your team? Team was losing. Jerome Tang knew how bad it was. And it was bad. But taking his buyout over a heated press conference should make every viable candidate tell their agents to think twice.

Definitely think firing Tang makes a ton of sense for Kansas State. Haven't seen much reason to believe in him turning that thing around since the Elite 8 run. Not sure anyone has made consistently worse transfer decisions in recent years.

Not sure that chasing the buyout is the…

CBS Sports' Matt Norlander

Kansas State will try to fire Tang for cause, per a source.

Owed more than $18 million otherwise.

Expect a major legal battle in the month to come, if the sides don't otherwise opt to settle for something between $0 and $18 million-plpus. https://t.co/8atdZBbt6O
