The New Orleans Saints have had a couple of interactions with rivals in free agency, starting with bringing back linebacker Kaden Elliss from the Atlanta Falcons. But, New Orleans got poached too, by a different division rival. In short, the Saints have an issue to fix within the offensive line after the Carolina Panthers stole away backup center Luke Fortner. Now, Fortner may not be in the starting lineup, but New Orleans needs someone it knows it can rely upon if the event Erik McCoy goes down.
On the other side of things, Fortner will have a chance to capitalize on a new opportunity in Carolina on a one-year contract worth $4.75 million.
Here's a look at what social media had to say about the whole situation:

Still wouldn’t rule out the #Panthers using a draft pick on a center but this is a very solid pickup.
Fortner’s pass block grade of 72.5 in 2025 ranked 7th of all qualifying centers in the league.@CSLonQCNhttps://t.co/31eM1Mx4tj

The #Panthers have added Luke Fortner to their free-agent haul.
So, let's chat about it a bit.

HABEMUS CENTER.

Luke Fortner isn’t flashy, but he’s experienced. 50+ career games and solid pass protection last season. Low-risk move to patch the center spot. https://t.co/zTj0vIGowB
