Swedish soccer legend Zlatan Ibrahimovic, who joined FOX Sports as an analyst for the World Cup, is moving on from broadcasting.
Ibrahimovic announced following Sunday’s final between Spain and Argentina that the 2026 World Cup will be his one and only event as a broadcaster.
“I’ve been talking a lot the last one and a half months, so these will be my last words,” Ibrahimovic said on air. “It has been an absolutely pleasure to share this studio with you guys. You made it very easy for me. I want to thank also FOX studio, I want to thank America, I want to thank also all the other people you don’t see. … You made it easy for me.
“I hope America, you enjoyed it as much as I did. And this is also my farewell to the studio. This was the first and last time for me, so thank you everybody.”
Ibrahimovic drew widespread praise throughout the World Cup for his work as an analyst.
Andrew Marchand, who covers sports media for The Athletic, described him as “a World Cup TV star.”
Still, Sweden’s all-time leading goal scorer says he is moving on from broadcasting.
In addition to playing for the Swedish national team, Ibrahimovic also played for AC Milan, FC Barcelona, Inter Milan, Juventus, Manchester United, Paris Saint-Germain and other professional teams during his career.
He scored 62 goals with the Swedish national team and is considered to be one of the best goal scorers in soccer history.
