PHILADELPHIA -- The Philadelphia 76ers will take on the Detroit Pistons on Saturday on the second night of a back-to-back as they look to continue climbing the ladder in the Eastern Conference. The challenge will be tough with Joel Embiid sidelined as they won't have him to battle Pistons star Jalen Duren, but the Sixers will have one of their stars on the floor.
Paul George will play against the Pistons after originally being listed as probable for this contest due to left knee injury management. The 9-time All-Star will play in his first back-to-back of the season as the Sixers were working on getting him ready for the playoffs.
"Obviously, everybody can see that he's moving better and playing better and playing a lot more minutes, and hasn't been any types of restrictions at all," said coach Nick Nurse of George. "So, we'll see when we get there."
As for Embiid, the Sixers ruled him out due to right oblique injury management and illness as he has yet to play in back-to-backs on the season. He expressed a desire to play on Friday, but Philadelphia decided to sit him against the Pistons.
Nurse gave his thoughts on Embiid's comments before the game against Detroit.
George and the Sixers will take on the Pistons at 7 p.m. EDT from Xfinity Mobile Arena.

Nick Nurse on Joel Embiid’s comments and whether he and the team are on the same page: “I mean, it's no different for me, right? The medical staff tells me who's available, who isn't, when they are, when they aren't. Go from there.” #Sixers
