BOSTON -- The Philadelphia 76ers have a fantastic chance to get the job done on Saturday when they pay a visit to the Boston Celtics for Game 7 of their Round 1 series. The Sixers trailed this series 3-1, but have rallied to force a winner-take-all Game 7 back at TD Garden.
This is something of a full circle moment for rookie VJ Edgecombe who made his debut in Boston back on Oct. 22 and delivered a historic debut in a win over the Celtics. He had a huge performance in Game 2 of this series and is primed for a big Game 7 as he has a tendency of performing well in this building.
"It’s crazy to think about it," Edgecombe added. "First game was here. Now, we’re in the playoffs playing here, so like I said, I’ve been in this building a lot now and this is just my first year. I feel like I’ve been here a lot. Boston’s a really good team so I know it’s gonna be a real competitive game. So, everything else is gonna be out the window. All previous times we’ve played here is out of the window. It’s all about focus on tonight."
The rookie guard just focuses on what he has to do in order to help the Sixers win games. He just believes he is in a good rhythm every time he has big games against the Celtics.
"I’ll be honest, I just be in a flow," Edgecombe said of his success in Boston. "I think that’s what it’s been. That’s a really good team we’re playing against. So, I just feel like I have to step up my game and be the best I can be."
When considering the development Edgecombe has shown in his maiden season, one has to wonder how he feels he has developed since his debut back in October on this very same floor.
"Just, I’ll be honest, everywhere," he said. "Just as a player, in general, I feel like I’ve just been getting better and better. Even when it comes to offense and me defensively, I feel like I’ve just been getting better."
Game 7 is set for 7:30 p.m. EDT from Boston. Edgecombe will look to get Philadelphia moving in the right direction and advance to Round 2.
