Six Georgia Bulldogs in The Open

The 154th Open Championship features six Georgia Bulldogs in the field. Georgia is always among the most well-represented college golf programs on the PGA Tour. The Open is being played at Royal Birkdale Golf Club in Southport, England, from July 16-19 and has a purse worth $17.75 million. Last year, Scottie Scheffler defeated former Georgia golf star Harris English to take home the Open.

The last Georgia golfer to win a major was Brian Harman at The Open in 2023. Russell Henley finished tied for third with 10-under at the Masters this year. Henley enters The Open in good form and is the most recent Georgia golfer to get a PGA Tour win. He won the Charles Schwab Challenge in Forth Worth, Texas, in late May. Henley is the No. 5 ranked golfer in the world.

In the most recent major, the U.S. Open, finished tied for fourth, which was best among former Georgia golfers. English (No. 32), Sepp Straka (No. 23) and Henley (No. 5) are all ranked among the world's best golfers.
