NFL free agency begins next week. The Seattle Seahawks aren't expected to make major splashes. Instead, they might be preparing to lose Super Bowl 60 keynote contributors like Kenneth Walker III, Rashid Shaheed, Boye Mafe, Josh Jobe, and Riq Woolen.
Could John Schneider be preparing something bigger and unforeseen? The Las Vegas Raiders are expected to trade superstar EDGE Maxx Crosby sometime soon. Recent reports emerged that indicate Crosby's market is heating up fast. Could the Seahawks make a push?
Schneider has a well-known affinity for pass rushers. Mafe is about to leave in free agency. Derick Hall is entering a contract year. DeMarcus Lawrence and Uchenna Nwosu could be entering their final years in Seattle. The Seahawks are going to add a pass rusher this offseason.
The obvious roadblock is Crosby's contract. He signed a four-year, $106.5 million extension with the Raiders in 2025. The Pro Bowl pass rusher earns an average annual salary of $35.5 million per year. He's signed through 2029, with a cap number close to $40 million for 2026.
The Seahawks are planning to sign Jaxon Smith-Njigba and Devon Witherspoon to extensions. Sam Darnold may need a new contract next offseason as well. Schneider may be tempted to pursue Crosby, but his contract could be preventative.

Things are moving fast re Maxx Crosby. Last night Dallas thought they were close to a deal but since then other teams have raised the ante and potentially are offering the Raiders 2 1st round picks Expected Dallas to now shift their focus to Trey Hendrickson
