Yes.
I don't think Murray is the answer, nor do I think Rosen is the answer.
So trade down and draft BPA.
Hopefully we don't trade down more than once.

Depends on the deal, but in general, I think you're better off taking a top prospect that you feel good about. Hard to remember a bunch of trade-down scenarios that people feel good about.

You could argue the Rams trading down for RGIII, collecting all of those picks, started them where they were at.

I guess if you ignore that it still took 5 years and a coaching change to be competitive.

The haul wasn't that impressive to be honest...

Michael Brockers
Janoris Jenkins
Isaiah Pead
Rokevious Watkins
Alec Ogletree
Stedman Bailey
Zac Stacy
Greg Robinson

Of those only Brockers is still on the team and you really can't say he was a big part of the reason they made the Super Bowl.

Yup.

Neither won that trade unless you count a playoff appearance by Washington RG3’s rookie year.

4 Times teams traded out of the #1

Atlanta traded with San Diego

Atlanta got
Michael Vick

San Diego got
Ryan Leaf

#2 Rams trade up to get Orlando Pace with the Jets

Rams got
Orlando Pace

Jets got
WR Dedric Ward, RB Leon Johnson, DT Jason Ferguson, DE Terry Day, QB Chuck Clements and TE Lawrence Hart

#3 Panthers trade with Cincy

Cincy with #1 took
Ki-Jana Carter

Panthers took
Steve McNair

#4
Colts trade up to take Jeff George
Atlanta got Chris Hinton (real good T) and Andre Rison (great WR)

Never before has 1QB been the best thrower and runner coming out of college. Murray is special

Vick final year in college ran for 682 yards....Murray 1001
Vick threw 54% for 1234 yards Murray threw 69% for 4361 yards

As it stands stats wise ....Murray is better than Vick was running and throwing the ball AND he has the accuracy of Peyton Manning in college.

So you can have Michael Vick as a runner and Peyton as a Thrower in one person or trade down. Seems like an easy answer

Vick was traded for a package that included the 5th pick, which was LaDainian Tomlinson, in 2001. Leaf was Peyton's year (1998) and was part of the Cardinals' Wadsworth trade when the Cards moved from 2 to 3.

Reality is no one knows in the end ...we can speculate and speculate
I'm on the Murray train, but could end up 100% wrong as I was with Leinart

I'm sure we all have players we thought were the next hall of fame player coming out of college only to find out they were total busts

My only point is no one here should get too invested in what the team does, because reality is it'll take at least one full year to see if the player(s) they drafted are worth a pint and all the hype we built up.

Yes. The assets that San Diego acquired ended up being Tomlinson, Tay Cody (3rd round), Reche Caldwell (2002 2nd rounder) and veteran WR Tim Dwight.

The Chargers drafted Drew Brees at the top of the second round of that draft.
