Should the Cincinnati Bengals take Oregon defensive tackle Derrick Harmon?
The Bengals have been looking for depth at the position for some time and Harmon is viewed as one of the top prospects at the position. Does he make sense for the Bengals at 17? Let's touch on why and why not.
Harmon brings strength and power in the trenches. He doesn't get blown off the line of scrimmage in the run game, important in a division that includes Derrick Henry. He also can be very disruptive against the pass, recording five sacks last season at Oregon. He has experience at multiple positions, as he can play 0-tech, 2i-tech, 2-tech and 3-tech. He was the pick for the Bengals in Dane Brugler's full, seven-round mock. The Bengals need impact players up front. Harmon would be exactly that.

There is some concern from analysts that Harmon is inconsistent with finishing plays when getting after the quarterback and questions on how he'll handle his weight. The good news is he's down about 35 pounds from when he was a freshman at Michigan State.
The strengths outweigh the weaknesses here and an NFL-style conditioning program will easily help get Harmon into shape. Harmon is such a disruptive player at a position the Bengals have been rotating at for some time now. Harmon would give the Bengals much-needed stability at the position. Absolutely he is worth taking at No. 17.
