This was in the AZ REPUBLIC Sports section today:

"His enthusiasm. He's never down, never. Make a bad play? All right, let's get 'em next time. Don't pout. And to be a great player, you have to have a short memory. You can't dwell on it and say, I'm going to sulk for a while. You have to come back and make up for it the next time. And that's what he does. He's always positive, always. I like that."

--Shannon Sharpe

Broncos tight end, when asked by the Denver Post to describe quarterback Jake Plummer's greatest attribute.

There's a lot of ways to look at that quote.

Hey! You cannot over-rate...

the ability to throw one game-killing interception after another and not let it get to you.

It is really good to be able to admitt you made another "bone-head" play, and get on with the evening's partying. No pouting. No sulking. A real up-beat guy.

Note to Sharpe: Beware of the Rat's Ass. Or in Denver's case, Donkey's Ass.

"His scrambling," fullback Reuben Droughns said. "He has an ability to step up in the pocket, which we were missing last year. And you know it and everybody else knows that. Jake can read defenses and pick them apart, and that right there is something we need."

Exactly what QB has Droughns been looking at?? He must have confused Jake with Beuerlein (is it Beuerlein's picuture, ironically, that accompanies the article in the Denver Post)

The full article (as opposed to just the Plummer favorable segments, as appeared in the East Valley Tribune), tells the flip side also. You know that side that we are all to familiar with!

The article continues:

By Adam Schefter, Denver Post Sports Writer
HOUSTON - Plummer would be happier if he could jump straight to September and Cincinnati. But for the time being, he is happy to have another month to fine-tune an offense that is coming to him not much quicker than a foreign language.

Last week, Plummer admitted his head was spinning more than it had at any point since coming to Denver. Each day for the first eight days of training camp, the Broncos were installing a new part of their offense - the two-minute drill or the goal-line offense or the last six plays of a game or the four-minute offense.

Plummer had to learn at least 10 new plays a day, with four or five variations on each. It was the ultimate mind game.

But once the Broncos settled back into the two-minute drill, where he could scramble and create, Plummer felt as comfortable as he would if he were back in his hometown of Boise, Idaho.

"The best time so far has been when I moved the ball in the two-minute drills," Plummer said. "Because there you're just playing ball. It's not scripted, it's just going out and playing."

Sounds like he's uncomfortable in their structured.

Rivercard:

Picture the stunned look of disbelief on my face at this moment.

Let's start the pool on Beuerlein's first start now. I got dibs on game 4.

None. Stevie B won't get a start. I hate to say this but...if Shanahan was so bullheaded to make this decision and sign a suspect QB, my guess is he will be too bullheaded to make the switch.
