Shane van Gisbergen is in desperate need of a really good points day. Van Gisbergen has been sliding down the NASCAR Cup Series point standings, sitting in 19th place behind Ross Chastain after 10 races. The driver of the No. 97 car has struggled to find pace, which has been the case for all Trackhouse Racing drivers in 2026.

Van Gisbergen has earned one top-5 finish and two top-10 finishes, which came at EchoPark Speedway and Circuit of the Americas. Over the last three races, Van Gisbergen has had a best finish of 20th at Talladega Superspeedway and two finishes of 34th place or worse. The Trackhouse Racing driver only has 24 stage points as well.

Trackhouse Racing simply has to find more speed. Van Gisbergen, Chastain, and Connor Zilisch have struggled to run well and don't have race-winning pace. While the No. 97 team hoped for a Chase berth, Van Gisbergen might be in must-win situations on the road courses to find a way into the top 16 spots.
