Texas A&M's No. 1-ranked 2027 recruiting class includes a nation-leading six five-star commits, led by the No. 2-ranked recruit in the cycle, five-star offensive tackle Mark Matthews, who already looks like a future first-round NFL Draft pick based on his elite pass protection skill set. Among the program's early 2027 commits, four-star edge Kaden McCarty continues to stand out.

Under third-year coach Mike Elko, his goals of reaching the College Football Playoff for the first time in program history, paired with seeing a record 10 players selected in the 2026 NFL Draft, Texas A&M continues to be on the right trajectory, and Elko's vision of blending recruiting success with enough transfer portal additions and roster retention to continue competing for a spot in the CFP.

Elko has already proven his ability to develop pass rushers after Cashius Howell, who transferred from Bowling Green before the 2024 season, led the SEC in sacks with 11.5 on the year and was selected in the second round of the 2026 NFL Draft by the Cincinnati Bengals.

McCarty, who is coming off his breakout junior season, where he recorded 51 tackles, 12 sacks, 26 tackles for loss, and 2 forced fumbles, consistently looking like one of the smoothest pass rushers in the 2027 cycle, continues to climb the rankings ahead of his senior season.

On Thursday, McCarty was named to the 2026 Preseason DCTX Whataburger Super Team as a defender, while four-star safety JayQuan Snell, five-star OL Kennedy Brown, and four-star OL Kaeden Scott also earned spots on the Super Team.
