There are seven Post-Crescent area teams remaining in the WIAA girls basketball playoffs. Here's a look at this week's sectional semifinal matchups. All games are March 5 at 7 p.m., with sectional finals March 7.
Kimberly, the defending WIAA Division 1 state champion, won the Fox Valley Association title and has played an uber-tough schedule. The Papermakers have wins against De Pere, Brookfield East, Neenah (twice), Hortonville (twice), Hartford, Appleton East and a 62-45 victory over Bay Port in the regional final. Wisconsin commit Ava Van Vonderen recently surpassed 1,000 points for her career and leads Kimberly in scoring (14.3) and rebounds (7.5), with Marquette recruit Haylie Dulas averaging 13.5 points and 4.8 rebounds. Claudia Asman (9.4 ppg) is one of the top 3-point shooters in the state.
Notre Dame won the Fox River Classic Conference and is paced by Kaia Waldrop (15.7 ppg, 6.6 rpg). The Tritons have a championship history, having won six Division 2 titles in recent years before being moved up to D1 due to the tournament performance factor. The Tritons' four losses are to Pewaukee, Oostburg, Hartford and Arrowhead.
Appleton East, which reached the D1 state semifinals last season, won the regional title with a 55-37 victory over Sheboygan North. The Patriots were second in the FVA behind Kimberly and also had a tough schedule. East has wins over Neenah (twice), Kimberly, Bay Port, Hortonville and Laconia. The Patriots' three losses are to Kimberly, Oostburg and Hortonville. Ella Sweeney leads the offense with 14.3 points a game.
Hartford shared the North Shore Conference title with Whitefish Bay. The Orioles are led by Rita Kuepper (21.3 ppg) and Bella Klages (18.9 ppg, 3.5 assists). The Orioles lost to Kimberly earlier this season along with losses to Arrowhead, Pewaukee, De Pere and Whitefish Bay, but are entering the sectional semifinal on a 10-game winning streak including 76-50 over Divine Savior Holy Angels in the regional final.
Neenah finished third in the FVA and has won four of its last five games, including an 84-38 victory over Menomonee Falls in the regional final. Rowan Klesmit was a Ms. Basketball semifinalist and is averaging 21.2 points, 4.8 rebounds and 2.8 assists. Ellie Buss averages 12.8 points and recently surpassed 1,000 points for her career.

Pewaukee, which won the Woodland West, is paced by Wisconsin recruit Giselle Janowski, who averages 15.3 points and 5.2 rebounds. The Pirates are playing in D1 this season and last season due to the tournament performance factor. The Pirates have big wins over Kimberly, Hortonville, Notre Dame and Hartford. Their four losses are to Wauwatosa East, Oostburg, Kettle Moraine Lutheran and Whitefish Bay.
Xavier won the Bay Conference and advanced to sectional play with a 67-46 victory over Luxemburg-Casco in the regional final. The Hawks are playing up a division after appearing in the WIAA D3 state championship game the past two seasons. Xavier has wins over Laconia, Winneconne, Fox Valley Lutheran and West De Pere. The team has weathered significant injuries to top players Joy and Elle Krull. Brynn Krull leads the Hawks in points (18.8) and rebounds (5.3). Hailey Hafner has also had a breakout season and is averaging 14. 4 points.

West De Pere finished fourth in the mostly Division 1 Fox River Classic Conference. Molly Walder leads the team in scoring (15.0 ppg) and the Phantoms knocked off Fox Valley Lutheran 55-47 in last week's regional final. The Phantoms were 3-6 in early January but are 11-6 over their last 17 games.
Brillion finished third in the Eastern Wisconsin Conference and advanced to sectionals with a 61-53 victory over Freedom in the regional final. Amaya Brooks (15.9 ppg) and Kaitlyn Schuman (13.5) lead the team in scoring with Emma Schuh the top rebounder (8.4).
Winneconne tied for second in the Bay Conference with Fox Valley Lutheran. The Wolves played a tough schedule with wins over Xavier, Laconia and St. Mary Catholic. Their six losses were to Fox Valley Lutheran, Wisconsin Dells, Shawano, West De Pere, Xavier and Oostburg – teams with an average record of 21-5. The Wolves have an athletic lineup led by an impressive junior duo of Grace Mitchell (17.3 ppg, 6.4 rpg, 4.0 apg) and Harper Neace (14.3 ppg, 8.6 rpg).
Stratford placed second in the Marawood South behind Marathon and is coming off a 64-53 victory over Marathon in the regional final. The Tigers have won back-to-back games in the postseason after ending the regular season losing three of their last four games. Stratford has a win over Bonduel and split with Marathon in the regular season. Carly Pankratz is the top scorer for Stratford, averaging 13.9 points.
St. Mary Catholic played one of the tougher schedules in D4, getting wins over Brillion, Bonduel (twice), Manitowoc Lutheran (twice) and Stevens Point Pacelli. The Zephyrs' three losses are to undefeated Oostburg and D3 sectional qualifiers Laconia and Winneconne. The Zephyrs held off Bonduel 47-44 in the regional final to advance. Autumn Crowe (21.9 ppg, 8.9 rpg, 5.8 steals, 2.9 apg) is the team's top player with Luci Nackers (12.6 ppg, 3.1 spg) and Gabby Guerrero (10.5 ppg, 3.3 spg) also averaging in double figures.

DIVISION 2
