Tennis fans will not get to see a Williams sister reunion at Wimbledon this year as Serena and Venus withdrew from the tournament.
Their doubles match was pushed back two days until the last possible time to convene a first round match. A practice session shortly before the match sealed the deal.
Serena’s knee injury is the culprit, but she vows that this is not the end.

This is a huge disappointment to fans but leaves the door open for her to play singles and doubles later in the summer, perhaps in Washington, DC, Canada, or Cincinnati, leading up to the US Open.
Serena Williams and Venus Williams of the USA play Lucie Hradecka and Linda Noskova of the Czech Republic in in women’s doubles on day four of the 2022 U.S. Open tennis tournament at USTA Billie Jean King National Tennis Center.
