i had a roommate a decade ago - a woman - she married a hindu cleric and moved to India. She sure learned to cook some kickazz food - she told me of the hatred between muslims and hindus in the smaller towns - burning each others' churches.... She bailed after a year - couldn't take it anymore.
She did tell of the sophistication of the city people, the monkeys and cows running around everywhere, the caste system...

Isn't India the most populated democracy in world? I think they have like 600 million plus at least.

almost a billion! The caste system is slowly breaking down, but still powerful in the hinterlands - kinda like the biblebelt here.
