WAYNE − North Jersey’s top athletes were honored by The Record and NorthJersey.com at the 2026 North Jersey High School Sports Awards, presented by HSS, on Friday, June 26.

Forty-two awards were handed out at the event hosted by Passaic County Technical Institute, including 34 to Players of the Year in various sports, Male and Female Athlete of the Year, Coach of the Year and the Lifetime Achievement Award.

NBA star Dominick Barlow of the Philadelphia 76ers was the event’s special guest. Barlow played at Dumont High School and was the North Jersey Boys Basketball Player of the Year in 2021.

Here’s a full list of all the award winners:

Male Athlete of the Year: Seven Garcia, Hackensack

Seven Garcia took home the state championship in the 400 meters in both indoor and outdoor track, going undefeated at that distance this year. He was part of the state champion 4x400 meter relay team alongside teammates he's been running with since he was 8 years old. The Southern Cal commit won sectional titles and Group 4 state titles in the 800 meters and sectional titles in the 200.

"It's a surreal moment, because last year I didn't even win any awards," Garcia said. "I was nominated, but I didn't really have as much of an astonishing year that I had now, so it just means everything to me to come back and be one of the greatest in North Jersey.

"Becoming a state champion for the first time, it's such a crazy feeling. With the relay, just winning with all three of my best friends, I couldn't ask for a bigger moment than this."

Female Athlete of the Year: Olivia Georges, DePaul

Olivia Georges made history on the mat, becoming the first wrestler in Passaic County to win three state championships. She finished with a career record of 107-9 and as a four-time state medalist.

After winning her second of two awards, Georges downplayed her accomplishments but mentioned that she was glad to be noticed among her high competition.

"There's a lot of great athletes here tonight, so I'm happy that I was able to stand out," Georges said.

Boys Team of the Year: Bergen Catholic basketball

The Crusaders finished 29-3 this past season, not losing a game to a New Jersey opponent and repeated as Non-Public A state champions.

Girls Team of the Year: Ramsey soccer

The Ramsey girls soccer program completed a historic season, finishing 25-0 and becoming the first undefeated team from Bergen County since 2014. Ramsey dominated on both sides of the pitch, as it led the league in goals per game and goals allowed.

Coach of the Year: Helen Antzoulides, Rutherford

Helen Antzoulides' final season guiding the Bulldogs ended with the first sectional bowling championship in school history. With her retirement from teaching and coaching at the end of the 2025-26 school year, Antzoulides goes out with sectional titles in each of her sports: softball (2008), girls volleyball (2019) and bowling. The latter came with a coed squad in the North 2, Group 1 boys tournament this past February.

Lifetime Achievement Award: Jeff Jasper

Jeff Jasper is the winningest coach in New Jersey girls basketball history, a member of the Naismith Basketball Hall of Fame in Springfield, Massachusetts, and a legend. Over five decades at Pascack Valley, Jasper spent 12 years as athletic director and coached seven other sports at the school.

Charlie McGill Scholarship Awards

Old Tappan baseball player Anthony Onnembo and Park Ridge softball player Kate Broderick are this year's recipients of the Charlie McGill Scholarship Award.

Established in 1970, the award recognizes a broad range of personal achievements and outstanding effort connected to athletics. It is presented annually in celebration of high school athletes and students. The award was renamed in 2002 to pay tribute to artist Charlie McGill of The Record, who drew portraits of the athletes from 1954 to 2024.
