Packers picked up Crouch and told him he will get his shot at QB.

If he's returing punts at 18 yards a pop, and kickoffs at 25 yards a pop for Green Bay this year, SECTION 11 is going to be pissed off.
He is a dangerous man with the ball in his hands. He rushed for 131 yards against Miami (with exactly zero people helping him out). Who's the last guy to put up 130+ on Miami? I have no idea.
He's probably the fastest guy on Green Bay's roster right now.

But does he have a good arm because he will be expected to throw the ball in the old WC offense? He isn't going to rush for 100 yards every week in the NFL. That has been the "knock"...his arm coming from the Husker offense.
That is why teams try and convert those kids to S or WR. Crouch has his work cut out for him since the Packers have Craig Nall who they are very high on and are really touting as the heir apparent. Plus they have Doug Pedersen and they picked up some other kid whose name escapes me.

Don't they also have Michael Bishop, one of my all time favorite college Qbs from Kansas State?

Oh, I don't expect him to see the field as a QB. Unless it's say, 3rd and 3. He'll see some time in the Red Zone probably as well as a wingback.
He won't be rushing for 100 yards a game in the NFL either. But damn, as a returner? He'd by dynamite.

So the question is does he have a good enough arm to be an NFL QB?

I think Bishop's with New England.

No. But he's without a doubt good enough to get on the field.

Where is Bishop? I don't see him listed anywhere.

The fact that he made it past the Cardinals on waivers, when we don't have a kick or punt returner, is just friggin dumb. There is absolutely no harm in making a claim on him. Hell, tell him he's competing with McCown for #2, but in the mean time he's gotta return kicks. He's that good with the ball in traffic or in the open field, he's tough as nails and he's faster than chit.

Crouch (2001) would be the sixth Heisman Trophy winner to play for the Packers, joining Bruce Smith (1941), Paul Hornung (1956), Ty Detmer (1990), Desmond Howard (1991) and Danny Wuerffel (1996). [/B]

But he was bitching in STL that he wanted to be a QB. They thought he was good enough to be on the field in another capacity. So, if you don't think he has the arm, then he will be right back where he started his career.

Problem is, Section, if we put in a waiver claim and get him, we go to the bottom of the waiver list. Therefore, if a player we actually really want gets waived, unless other teams have picked up a guy off waivers, we get last dibbs. The Cards likely weighed the upside to Crouch (not too much-would have to reserve a roster spot solely for him, unproven on NFL punts, not sure he can even return kicks) and decided it wasn't worth the risk.

No, he wasn't bitching about playing QB. That's totally false.
He knew when they drafted him what his role was going to be.
He wasn't picking up receiver fast enough, and wasn't healthy enough to compensate for it. He said "It's not working out at receiver, I can't take your money, here you go." Now that he's had a year to heal (do you have any idea the pounding you take playing option QB? You're fully exposed on the pitch, and will get clobbered repeatedly.) he wants to make another run at it. I'm guessing he's willing to do whatever it takes at this point. I'm not convinced that wasn't the case before.
