The opening round of the 2025 Clark Cup Playoffs is complete, with the Madison Capitols, Muskegon Lumberjacks, Sioux City Musketeers and Waterloo Black Hawks each advancing to the Conference Semifinals.
Here’s a look at Wednesday’s action as well as the second-round schedule.
Lumberjacks Take Down RoughRiders
It was a team effort for the Muskegon Lumberjacks, as four different skaters lit the lamp in their 4-1 best-of-three series-clinching win over Cedar Rapids.
The Jacks tallied all four of their goals in the first period, then got solid defense and goaltending the rest of the way.
Teddy Spitznagel got things going for Muskegon at the 2:09 mark, redirecting a shot from Jake Toll.
Less than three minutes later, David Deputy tipped in a Drew Stewart shot for his first of the post-season and a 2-0 Jacks lead.
After the RoughRiders were called for a five-minute cross-checking penalty, David Klee got a freak bounce off the stanchion behind the Cedar Rapids net and fired in a shot for a 3-0 lead with five minutes remaining in the opening period.
The Jacks’ final goal came on that same power-play. Xavier Veilleux tapped in his first tally of the playoffs following a commotion in front of the Riders net.
The Riders scored their only goal late in the middle frame, also on a power play. Grant Young rifled a shot into the back of the net to cut the Jacks’ lead to 4-1.
Shikhabutdin Gadzhiev stopped 30 of 31 shots to earn the victory. AJ Reyelts also had 30 saves but took the loss.
Muskegon advances to the Eastern Conference Semifinals against the Youngstown Phantoms.

The Fargo Force were looking for a much better performance than their 7-0 Game 1 loss to the Sioux City Musketeers. But the defending Clark Cup champions put up a valiant fight, but fell short 5-2 in a two-game sweep for Sioux City.
After a scoreless first period, Landen Gunderson lit the lamp for the Musketeers for his first of the playoffs less than two minutes into the second. Giacomo Martino increased the lead to 2-0 seven minutes later following a major blunder by Fargo netminder Alan Lendak.
Kuzma Voronin tried to bring the Force back late in the middle frame on a power-play goal from below the right dot.
Matthew Lansing gave Fargo even more hope early in the third period on a redirected shot from Sam Laurila.
Sioux City, however, got the momentum back with three unanswered goals, two from Tate Pritchard, who netted the go-ahead goal on a wrist shot from the right circle.
The Musketeers will meet the Anderson Cup Champion Lincoln Stars in the Western Conference Semifinals.
