Earlier this month, the Nittany Lions received a commitment from four-star wide receiver Jamir Dean. The saga that ensued may cause Penn State a little bit of panic.
After his commitment, Georgia swooped in with an offer, causing chaos within Happy Valley. Now, the temperature is rising around a potential change of plans for Dean as he is holding an official visit with the Bulldogs this weekend.
While Dean is not the most high-profile of prospects, he is still a four-star recruit plying his trade in the Midwest. Also, the Nittany Lions are barren at the position in this class. They need to ensure that Dean stays on with the Nittany Lions before it's too late. His visit with the Blue and White will come on the weekend of June 5. Still, his interest in the Georgia Bulldogs could run deeper than expected.
Dean was on the Georgia campus even before his official visit, perhaps doing his due diligence with his own mini-visit. Now that he has held his official visit, he will have several weeks before revisiting the Nittany Lions. What Penn State does not want is for Dean to follow in the footsteps of Kemon Spell, the running back who found himself in a similar situation and ended up switching commitments.
For the Nittany Lions, already having a receiver in the class could help them, but Dean's original commitment is still vital to remember for his next visit to campus. They must use that as a bargaining chip before it's too late to salvage what is becoming an intriguing situation.
