Texas A&M softball is still searching for the consistency that defines a complete team, and the early stretch of the season has delivered its share of bumps. Even so, the Aggies have shown flashes of what they can be — stacking quality wins and holding steady in the middle tier of the national Top 25. There’s still plenty of growth ahead, but their junior star has been the catalyst they needed as SEC play gets underway.

On Monday, the conference recognized that impact. Junior Mya Perez was named SEC Player of the Week after a five‑hit, six‑RBI performance in the road series against LSU to open league action. Below is the excerpt from the SEC’s official release:

"The junior infielder from Corona, Calif., owned a .833 batting average in the series win at No. 20/17 LSU this past weekend. Perez extended her nation-leading on-base streak to 31 games after going 5-for-6 with six RBI, five walks and two runs scored. She recorded one double and two home runs in the first two games versus the Tigers to help the Aggies clinch the program’s first road series victory in Baton Rouge."
