Brady Farkas and Buster Olney talk on the most recent 'Refuse to Lose Territory' podcast. Subscribe on YouTube.
WASHINGTON D.C. -- Seattle Mariners left fielder Randy Arozarena left Friday's game against the Washington Nationals after appearing to injure himself in the top of the third inning.
Arozarena, who sparked a five-run second inning with a single to right field, was injured in the top of the third inning after trying to leg out an infield single. He was thrown out at first but also lunged for the bag. As he was tended to by team trainers, it looked like Arozarena's hamstring or left knee were bothering him.
We'll know more postgame when manager Dan Wilson speaks to the media.
Should Arozarena have to miss any time, it would be another disastrous development for a Mariners team that already has Cal Raleigh, Brendan Donovan, JP Crawford and Matt Brash on the injured list.
Crawford and Brash also went on the injured list during this 10-game road trip through the East Coast. Brash will be out "a while" with a lat strain.
It's been an excellent season for Arozarena, who entered Friday's game hitting .290. He stole a base on Friday, giving him 19 for the season. He's on track to be selected to his second consecutive All-Star Game and ESPN's Buster Olney told the 'Refuse to Lose Territory' podcast on Thursday that Arozarena is an MVP candidate.

"Yeah, an All Star.
And I know you and I talked early in the year about all the concerns coming off the WBC and everything with Cal (Raleigh), and how he's handling that. He's (Randy Arozarena) having a terrific season to the point that, you know, when Aaron Judge went down last week, not only are there implications for the Yankees, because he looks like he's going to be out at least four-to-six weeks, probably longer.
The American League MVP race is wide open. Last year we had the two major candidates in Judge and Cal Raleigh. This year, there really aren't players who've necessarily separated themselves.
So Julio (Rodriguez) is going to be an MVP candidate this year. I think Randy's going to be an MVP candidate this year with how he's playing. Bobby Witt Jr., Cody Bellinger, Ben Rice, Yordan Alvarez, who's a full time DH, that doesn't happen very often. You know, Ohtani wins the MVP because he's a pitcher and a DH.
So I'm fascinated by this. And Randy's had a great impact. The fact that he's now moved into the cleanup spot within the absence of Cal, with what else is going on in their lineup, that's interesting."
