Sorry for the missed entry for the first game of the season, went out of town unexpectedly.
Maori Maul Snipes
The Christchurch Fighting Maori stayed at home this week while Navy Snipes came into their house. The game started out a stalemate until "The Firebird" made a 43 yard field goal to put the Maoris up 3-0 at the end of the first quarter. He would make two other field goals, this time from 24 yards out in the 2nd quarter to put them up 6-0. After that is was all Maori all the time. Colton Kidd added 6 to the scoreboard after running up the middle for the touchdown from 18 yards out. The 2nd quarter came to a close 2 minutes later. The Fighting Maori continued to fight though, and put up 3 more in the 3rd after The Firebird added another 44 yard field goal to the score sheet. The 4th quarter was what really seperated the teams. Three touchdowns, two of which by Tropic thunder and one by the quarterback El Jefe Tiberon.
The Maori defense was just killer this game, allowing only 73 passing yards, and -10 rushing yards. The Navy quarterback was hit 8 times and had to hurry up and throw it away once. Compare this to the Maori only letting up two sacks and one hurry. On defense, Eraldo Coil led the way with 6 tackles, 5 sacks, 5 hurries, and 2 batted passes. On offense, Colton Kidd led the way with 147 rushing yards and 1 Touchdown. Next week, the Maori travel to "The Pink Punters" in a showdown that should be an expected win, for the Maori.
