As the NFL draft enters its final day at Lambeau Field in Green Bay, Wisconsin, Colorado quarterback Shedeur Sanders finds himself still on the board.
It's the biggest and most surprising storyline in the 2025 NFL Draft. But there is one NFL coach, Denver Broncos' Sean Payton, who believes Sanders will be better off for it when the dust is settled and he is taken in one of Saturday's rounds.

"We sat there, I watched right behind him throwing. ... He had an outstanding pro day," Payton said Friday night in a news conference with Broncos reporters. "This thing is surprising. ... I think we all are surprised, and yet the talent — holy cow (it's there)."
He added: 'There'll be this chip on his shoulder, and beware, because this guy is going to play in this league."

After not being taken in Thursday's first round, the prevailing belief was that the Cleveland Browns or the New Orleans Saints would use one of their Day 2 picks on Sanders to fill the hole at quarterback on their rosters. However, that never played out, with both teams taking a quarterback in Dillon Gabriel and Tyler Shough, respectively.
Jalen Milroe was also taken before Sanders in the 2025 NFL Draft, as the Alabama quarterback was taken by the Seattle Seahawks in the third round. Using ESPN's Mel Kiper Jr.'s big board of prospects as a reference, Shough was the No. 4-ranked quarterback in the class, Milroe was No. 5 and Gabriel was No. 8 — while Sanders, of course, was Kiper Jr.'s top-ranked QB in the class.
"The time that we spent with Shedeur and what he's done throughout his college career is impressive," Cleveland Browns general manager Andrew Berry said Friday via an ESPN article. "He's an impressive young man. He's a really good quarterback. ... I would also say this: There are four more rounds in the draft. And then maybe lastly is: It's less about where you get picked than what you do after you get picked. That's the most important thing."
Heading into Saturday's action of the NFL draft, the Pittsburgh Steelers remain the "best fit" for Sanders. The Steelers, who only had one pick on Friday, have four picks on Saturday: No. 123 overall (fourth round), No. 156 overall (fifth round), No. 185 overall (sixth round) and No. 229 overall (seventh round).
The NFL draft resumes at 10 a.m. MT at Lambeau Field on Saturday and will include Rounds 4 through 7.
