Before going down with a Lisfranc injury in November last season, J.K. Dobbins was one of the NFL's leading rushers. Though he missed the stretch run of the year, Dobbins was undoubtedly one of the biggest reasons the Denver Broncos were eventually able to secure the AFC's No. 1 overall playoff seed.

The Broncos, and understandably so, have high hopes for Dobbins this fall as he entered training camp finally fully healthy again. Unfortunately for Denver, that reality with its starting running back didn't last too long.

During Monday's Broncos training camp practice, Dobbins had to leave the field early with a soft-tissue injury. When asked for an update on Dobbins' status, head coach Sean Payton simply padded the back of his leg, signaling that it was a hamstring issue, before maintaining that he thinks Dobbins will be fine.

A soft-tissue injury for a running back coming off a ligament injury? Yeah, I'll take more of a wait-and-see approach before declaring Dobbins to really be OK:

As anyone who follows sports knows, there is nothing black and white about soft-tissue injuries. Even ones that seem fine sometimes tend to linger and nip at the heels of an athlete unfortunately afflicted with them, especially those already coming off another serious lower-body injury. That's why you have to be especially careful in their recovery process.

For the Broncos' sake, here's hoping Payton is right about Dobbins moving forward. He's certainly one of the last players the Broncos want to see enduring any nagging health issues right now.

What's the fantasy football fallout of J.K. Dobbins' soft-tissue injury?

Dobbins was probably going to be an RB2 or even RB3 in most cases even when completely healthy. Barring another injury update here, fantasy football managers should still be safe to treat him like that. But... maybe proceed with caution until we see Dobbins back on the practice field. Just to be sure.
