The NFL Annual League Meeting is taking place in Phoenix, Arizona, with coaches, general managers, and owners discussing various topics related to the game. Los Angeles Rams head coach Sean McVay sat down with Kay Adams for her 'Up and Adams Show', opening up about former Kansas City Chiefs defensive back Trent McDuffie.
"I think you're going to see him in a lot of different spots, where you can move him around, and you can take advantage of." McVay said, "He's a guy that can play a lot of locations. Quentin Lake can do that."
Kansas City traded McDuffie to the Los Angeles Rams in exchange for a package of draft picks that includes the No. 29 selection in this year's NFL Draft. He immediately agreed to a four-year extension worth $124 million, with $100 million guaranteed. The $31 million per year amount sets a new record for cornerbacks, making him the highest-paid cornerback in NFL history.
"I think what I respect about what Spags (Steve Spagnuolo) did is he moved him based on where they needed him the most," McVay said. "It was exciting, and we're glad that we got him. He's a stud of a human."
McDuffie playing on the outside or the slot continues to be a debate as he moves to the West Coast. Chiefs defensive coordinator Steve Spagnuolo's game plans continue to enhance his defensive backs' abilities, regardless of their positional preference.
After being shut down early due to a knee injury, McDuffie finished the 2025 season with 63 tackles, a sack, an interception, and seven passes defended in 13 games.
