Los Angeles Rams coach Sean McVay has had tremendous success in his career, including being named the 2017 NFL Coach of the Year and winning Super Bowl LVI against the Cincinnati Bengals.
However, he still has regrets about the Rams' Super Bowl LIII loss to the New England Patriots.
The Patriots won a mostly defensive battle that ended in a 13-3 score. Wide receiver Julian Edelman was named the Super Bowl MVP after recording 10 catches for 141 yards in the game. But for the most part, the explosive Patriots offense led by Tom Brady was held in check.
Unfortunately for the Rams, the same could be said on the other side with New England's defense completely shutting down Jared Goff and company.
"Man, that was a humbling night. It was too big for me," McVay said on Bussin With The Boys. "I'm not afraid to admit that. I didn't see the game, I didn't adjust and I feel like I cost a lot of people. I feel like I was a significant reason that we didn't come away on top in that game, and that's made me better."
The Patriots held Goff to 19-of-38 passing for 229 yards and an interception. Goff was sacked four times on a night when the defense simply had his number.
This was the last Super Bowl victory of the dynasty with Brady and Patriots coach Bill Belichick together. It came after Brady outdueled Patrick Mahomes to knock off the Kansas City Chiefs at Arrowhead Stadium in the AFC Championship Game.
