Sean Brady was on the cusp of title contention, but remaining active cost him.

After dominating ex-champion Leon Edwards in the UFC Fight Night 255 headliner, Brady found himself in prime position. However, Brady isn't the waiting around type. He opted to book another fight against undefeated Michael Morales, but wound up getting stopped by first-round TKO.

Brady (18-2 MMA, 8-2 UFC) played matchmaker for the UFC's welterweight division, and has his eyes firm on two former champions.

"Ian Garry is going to fight Islam (Makhachev) next – that's just what I think," Brady said on his "BradyBagz Show." "Maybe Morales and JDM (Della Maddalena), then you got Belal (Muhammad), I don't know what they're doing with Belal. There's Kamaru (Usman) right there, I'd like to fight Kamaru. I would like to fight Belal. I just don't know what they're waiting for. I think I'll have something in April so that's what we're timing up right now.

"It's like no fights are booked right now and then the whole division is going to be booked. They've still got Colby (Covington) in the f*cking rankings. That sh*t is crazy, bro. Now he was talking about fighting at 185. Now he's saying he wants to fight Paddy Pimblett at the White House card. ... I don't know what's going to happen with the division. It's kind of on standstill right now, and then Islam is probably not fighting until after Ramadan."

Brady won't nitpick in terms of his next opponent, but after Gabriel Bonfim was suggested to him, the 33-year-old said he'd like to think he deserves something bigger.

"I don't think I need to fight up, but I think it would nice to fight up," Brady said. "I took the risk against Morales, which i didn't have to take, and obviously it didn't work out for me. I'm in front of Kamaru. That's a fight that I want. I should get that fight. I'm No. 6, Belal is 5. We're right next to each other."
