Seahawks linked to ex-Steelers, Chargers 1,000-yard RB amid need for a veteran originally appeared on The Sporting News. Add The Sporting News as a Preferred Source by clicking here.
The Seattle Seahawks lost Kenneth Walker III, their Super Bowl 60 MVP running back, to the Kansas City Chiefs in free agency. Seattle needed to find a new running back this offseason.
They spent their first-round pick on Notre Dame's Jadarian Price and signed Emmanuel Wilson in free agency. With Zach Charbonnet out for much of the year, the Seahawks' current backfield will have Price, Wilson, and George Holani heavily involved.
This team could use another depth piece, especially an established veteran. That's why CBS Sports' Bryan DeArdo linked the Seahawks to former Pittsburgh Steelers and Los Angeles Chargers 1,000-yard RB Najee Harris as a free-agent target this offseason.
Seahawks linked to Najee Harris as free-agent target
"RB Najee Harris: Seahawks," DeArdo writes. "... But with Zach Charbonnet still recovering from last year's ACL injury, Seattle could use a veteran who can take some of the pressure off Price..."
With the Seahawks relying on a lot of inexperienced running backs in the NFL, adding a veteran to this group would make a whole lot of sense.
But, with slim pickings in free agency, Harris, the former Steelers Pro Bowler, would make a lot of sense for the Seahawks to bring in.

Price can still be the lead back, and Wilson and Holani can be depth pieces. But Harris could help provide a veteran presence in the backfield and also give the Seahawks a better goal-line option.
In his five-year NFL career, Harris has 28 touchdowns, which featured 27 in four years with the Steelers before playing just three games in 2025 with the Chargers due to an Achilles injury.
While the Seahawks, at this point, shouldn't spend a ton on a new running back, a depth addition like Harris would make a lot of sense. They've already met this offseason on a free-agent visit, so this possibility is already one both sides have explored.
