The 2026 NFL draft is fast approaching, and the league is already gearing up for all the pageantry associated with the event. On Thursday morning, the NFL announced who will be announcing picks for each team on the second day of the draft. Traditionally, NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell announces the first round selections. On day two, for rounds two and three, teams are allowed to pick their own representative.
The Seattle Seahawks have chosen a beloved member of the Super Bowl XLVIII championship team, former defensive end Cliff Avril, to announce their day two selections.
Avril spent the last five years of his ten-year career in the Pacific Northwest. He was originally signed prior to the 2013 season after five long years with the Detroit Lions. Avril made an immediate impact on the legendary Legion of Boom defense, paired alongside Michael Bennett. When the Seahawks claimed their first Lombardi, Avril became the first player in NFL history to have won a Super Bowl after playing on an 0-16 winless team.
During his time with the Seahawks, Cliff Avril logged 130 total tackles, 34.5 sacks, and recovered two fumbles. Arguably the most impactful play of his career was driving Broncos right tackle Orlando Franklin right into Peyton Manning in the Super Bowl, causing Manning to throw a pick-six to eventual MVP Malcolm Smith.
