The Seattle Seahawks signed quarterback Sam Darnold to a three-year, $100.5 million contract in free agency. Darnold will replace Geno Smith as Seattle's starter this coming season. Despite that, general manager John Schneider has shown a curious amount of interest in the 2025 NFL draft's quarterback class.

News broke earlier this week that the Seahawks are hosting Alabamaquarterback Jalen Milroe on a pre-draft visit. Milroe projects as a potential first-round pick. They also met formally at the NFL Combine with Ole Missquarterback Jaxson Dart.

Schneider recently spoke about the available quarterbacks in the 2025 NFL draft while making his weekly appearance on Seattle Sports with Bob Stelton and Dave Wyman. Interestingly enough, Schneider pushed back on the general perception that the upcoming class of quarterbacks is a weak one. Miami's Cam Ward and Colorado's Shedeur Sanders are the only two surefire first-round quarterbacks.

"I think it depends on the team, how they view the quarterback, how you're going to acquire him, where you're going to acquire him," Schneider said in response to the QB class."

Seahawks GM John Schneider, with @BobStelton and Dave Wyman on @SeattleSports, pushed back at the notion that this is not a deep QB draft.

"I think it depends on the team, how they view the quarterback ... how you're going to acquire him, where you're going to acquire him."

Schneider sounds like a general manager who is willing to draft a quarterback if the appropriate value is present. Equipped with five selections in the opening 100 picks, Schneider may feel he possesses enough capital to consider drafting a sliding quarterback, say Milroe or Dart is available in the second or third round.

It's worth remembering Darnold's three-year contract could be severed as early as next offseason if things don't go according to plan in 2025.
