Two Seattle Seahawks 2026 draft picks, guard Beau Stephens and defensive tackle Deven Eastern, faced off against each other at the Senior Bowl in January. Let’s take a look and see what the team might’ve noticed that made them interested in each.
Stephens is lined up at left guard and Eastern is lined up on his outside shade in the B gap. Stephens has no problem keeping up with Eastern as he gets off the line, and is in position to mirror him with time to spare due to efficient footwork. Eastern would need to close the distance between Stephens and himself quicker to beat him to the outside, where he already has the leverage. Stephens gets his arms out to Eastern first, which there’s really no excuse for from Eastern. His 34-inch arms should dwarf Stephens’, which are just 31.13 inches long. Knowing he’s already missed his chance on the outside, Eastern tries to make a move inside on Stephens. Stephens is able to keep his hips square and base wide to shuffle with Eastern, and wins the handfighting by getting on Eastern’s side, pushing him into the ground.
While far from sophisticated, this one play between two new Seahawks represents their profiles in a fair light. Stephens is more polished and ready to play immediately, while Eastern has more raw potential to unlock. As fifth- and seventh-round picks, the team will likely be patient with both, but it wouldn’t be a surprise to see any NFL team need more lineman depth at some point during the season.
