Seahawks’ RB Emmanuel Wilson steps up as first-round pick sidelined originally appeared on The Sporting News. Add The Sporting News as a Preferred Source by clicking here.
Running back Jadarian Price had a lower-body injury problem during training camp. Because of this, he had to stay off the field. Emmanuel Wilson, who was an experienced free agent, signed with the Seattle Seahawks on March 13 and made full use of the opportunity he got in Seahawks' practice.
“I’m bringing something different,” Wilson told reporters on Saturday. “A lot of people think I don’t have speed, but I have a lot of speed on my end, and really just bringing a lot of power.”
Also, Super Bowl MVP Kenneth Walker III signed with the Chiefs because he wanted to be a top running back.

Wilson was the backup running back to Josh Jacobs in Green Bay because Jacobs had a knee injury, and now he would want to make the most of the opportunity he gets with the Seahawks.
"Our pro staff did a great job evaluating, identifying Emanuel and just saying, 'Hey, here's this 230-pound guy with great feet.' And you sign a one-year deal like that, it's kind of like a, come on in," General Manager John Schneider said on Seattle Sports 710AM.
Before joining the Packers, Wilson redshirted at Johnson C. Smith University, which means he didn’t play for a year. After that, he signed with the Denver Broncos as an undrafted free agent.
On Saturday in practice, Wilson shared first-team reps with George Holani, which gave him the chance to practice with the top players. He showed off his agility and speed, proving that he can make big plays in the game at any moment.
"Whoever's out there that's going to make a play,” Wilson said. “We're going to lean on the lineman to make sure they get to their right blocks, and we're going to continue to press."

Price’s injury isn’t serious, and it’s expected that he’ll return to the team soon. Experts believe that Price will probably start playing from the first game, but even Wilson staying on the bench can help the team a lot.
"His feet like he got some amazing feet, and also the way he tracks the ball when he's catching is wonderful,” Wilson said. “Jadarian he got a lot to him he's going to be a great back in this league."
Wilson is struggling to secure his spot with the Seahawks as other players are playing really well. If the team keeps veteran players like Price, Holani, and Zach Charbonnet, there might be just one spot left for another running back for Wilson.
In 2024, Wilson ran for 502 yards and four touchdowns, ranking eighth in the NFL. He also performed really well against the Minnesota Vikings in Week 12.
According to offensive coordinator Brian Fleury's plan, Wilson should adopt running back coach Thomas Hammock’s 'North and South Finishing' concept. Wilson is a physical runner and delivers explosive performances.
