The NFL on CBS X account tier-listed NFL Teams based on the question “Which teams have best set their QB up for success?” on X yesterday, and grouped the Seattle Seahawks in the “average incubators” tier with the Las Vegas Raiders.
The list, “according to Jared Dubin”, is based on a longer article released this week that explains the surprising choice and lists his ranking criteria. At first glance, this social media graphic stirs the pot on one of the biggest controversies in NFL media right now- the puzzlingly popular prediction that the defending Super Bowl LX Champion Seahawks will take a substantial step back. Hawk Mania voiced the questions on Seattle’s minds about this list:
To compare Seattle and Las Vegas as quarterback incubators, one needs not look further than Geno Smith. He ranked 25th of 26 QBs in PFF passing grade who took at least 378 dropbacks in 2025 with the Raiders after ranking 7th/25 in 2024 and 11th/24 in 2023 while playing for the Seahawks, and he had similar situations with Pete Carroll in both ‘23 and ‘25. He did better with Ryan Grubb in 2024 than either of those campaigns, though, who was Mike Macdonald’s hire (who still got fired that year,) while Dubin’s rationale centers around the novelty of Brian Fleury and the Seahawks’ names that, admittedly, all took massive steps forward last year.
Dubin’s criteria gives enough context to understand why he had the opinion that held so much shock value in graphic form, but it still fits the accelerating narrative that the Seahawks are being underrated across the national media landscape going into 2026.
