Devon Witherspoon and the Seattle Seahawks agreed to a historic four-year, $132 million contract extension Saturday.
The deal includes more than $101 million guaranteed, according to ESPN’s Adam Schefter. Witherspoon now becomes the highest-paid cornerback in NFL history.
“ESPN sources: three-time Pro-Bowl CB Devon Witherspoon and the Seahawks reached agreement … that now makes him the highest-paid cornerback in NFL history,” Schefter wrote on X.

Schefter later revealed the negotiations became tense before the agreement was reached.
“Witherspoon’s agent, @WinSportsGroup and the Seahawks have had heated negotiations in recent days that now results in an agreement today,” Schefter wrote.
The contract gives Witherspoon a $33 million average annual value. That moves him ahead of the previous top cornerback contracts held by players such as Denzel Ward.
The extension rewards a player who has become central to Seattle’s defensive identity. Witherspoon’s versatility allows him to play outside, move into the slot and contribute against the run.
Fans were quick to welcome the agreement. One supporter called him “a true versatile playmaker who can line up anywhere and still make plays.”
Another fan added, “Can’t say he doesn’t deserve it; he’s a tremendous player.”

He earned his third straight Pro Bowl selection after an injury-limited 2025 season. He also helped Seattle win Super Bowl LX, giving the organization another reason to prioritize him.
