Scottie Scheffler posted one of the best golf rounds in Masters history Saturday, but his post-round interview featured an odd question.
Significant attention at Augusta focused on Rory McIlroy during the third round of the 2026 Masters. However, the world number one Scheffler posted his own impressive score heading into the final day of action.

One reporter certainly found a way to frustrate the American star though during an interview with Scheffler after the round. Scheffler’s quick response certainly made for a viral moment at Augusta, but the situation appeared to be quite awkward.
A reporter critiqued Scheffler on his round with a straight forward question. Scheffler’s impressive day came after shooting a seven-under par score of 65.
However, the former two-time Masters champion wasn’t having any of the questions when he was asked about what he felt his score should’ve been on the afternoon.
“That’s just a terrible question,” Scheffler said with a smirk. “Next question. Awful.”
While some fans and sports media members weren’t able to tell if Scheffler was joking initially, it became apparent when the world’s top player moved on with other questions.

The good news for Scheffler is that McIlroy’s epic Saturday meltdown is the talk of Augusta heading into Sunday’s final round. McIlroy held a six-shot lead entering Round 3, but now sits as a co-leader before the final round.
The Northern Irishman is hoping to become the first back-to-back Masters champion in over two decades. Tiger Woods is the last player to win two consecutive titles at Augusta, which he completed back in 2002.
Meanwhile, Scheffler is four shots back in a competitive field that features many elite golfers like McIlroy, Cameron Young, Shane Lowry, Justin Rose and others.
