Andreas Schicker will remain managing director for sport at high-flying Bundesliga side Hoffenheim while interim president Christoph Henssler is resigning, dpa has learnt.
At the same time a meeting of club leaders set for Monday night was cancelled. Kicker sports magazine said that club benefactor Dietmar Hopp had sought a court ruling to cancel the meeting which was granted, a court spokeswoman told dpa.
Hoffenheim have seen a power struggle between Hopp and Henssler, who rose from the ultras scene, for a long time.
Hopp still holds a 96% stake in the club but has handed the voting right back to the club.
Hoffenheim had recently parted ways with three managing directors, and Schicker's future was also in doubt in his position. Schicker had firmly rejected being demoted to sporting director.
Hopp had reacted with incomprehension to the possible demotion of Schicker.
"Through his outstanding work, a top team has been formed that excites me week after week and is perceived positively throughout German football," Hopp, 85, told Sunday's edition of the Rhein-Neckar-Zeitung. "How can we risk the success of our club?"
Under the leadership of the 39-year-old Austrian, the team have "rediscovered the Hoffenheim DNA," Hopp said, with the team ranked third in the Bundesliga.
The chaos in the background led coach Christian Ilzer, appointed by Schicker, to say he would consider his position if Schicker was undermined despite their current success of the field.
German international goalkeeper and Hoffenheim captain Oliver Baumann has also backed Schicker.
