Savannah James shares honest thoughts on LeBron's biggest critics originally appeared on The Sporting News. Add The Sporting News as a Preferred Source by clicking here.

For more than two decades, LeBron James has been one of the most discussed athletes in the world.

Every championship, playoff exit, free-agency decision and even regular-season performance has fueled countless debates across television, podcasts and social media. According to his wife, Savannah James, that attention has grown into something much bigger than basketball.

During a recent episode of the "Everybody's Crazy" podcast, Savannah offered a candid look at what it's like watching people analyze, and often criticize, her husband year after year.

Savannah James reflects on years of criticism

Speaking with co-host April McDaniel, Savannah said she has noticed a pattern when it comes to conversations surrounding the NBA superstar.

"It's crazy," Savannah said. "People have definitely made careers out of talking about [LeBron]."

She explained that while everyone is entitled to an opinion, living on the other side of those discussions offers a much different perspective.

"They have a subjective opinion about what everybody thinks is the best thing," Savannah said. "But to be on the other side of it, it's like, 'No, it's not.' They make careers out of that."

For Savannah, it wasn't simply a complaint about criticism. Instead, it was an observation about just how much attention follows one of basketball's most recognizable figures.

LeBron remains at the center of the NBA conversation

Her comments come at another pivotal moment in LeBron's career. After spending the past eight seasons with the Los Angeles Lakers, the 41-year-old is once again one of the biggest names in NBA free agency. His next destination has become one of the league's hottest storylines, with analysts and fans offering daily opinions about where he should finish his career and whether another championship is still within reach.

It's far from the first time LeBron's career choices have dominated headlines. His move from the Cleveland Cavaliers to the Miami Heat in 2010 reshaped the NBA landscape. His return to Cleveland in 2014 was celebrated throughout northeast Ohio, and his decision to join the Lakers in 2018 created another wave of national debate.

Now, another major decision has placed him back under the microscope.

Few athletes have faced more scrutiny

Whether someone considers LeBron the greatest player in NBA history or not, his résumé is difficult to match. He is a four-time NBA champion, four-time Finals MVP, four-time league MVP, a 22-time All-Star and the NBA's all-time leading scorer. He's also the only player to lead three different franchises to NBA championships.

Yet the accomplishments have never ended the debates. The greatest-of-all-time conversation continues to feature LeBron alongside Michael Jordan and Kobe Bryant, with former players, media personalities and fans frequently weighing in. Just this week, Hall of Famer Charles Barkley reignited that discussion by explaining why he ranks Jordan and Bryant ahead of James despite placing LeBron among the three best players he has ever seen.

Savannah's comments serve as a reminder that those debates extend well beyond television studios and social media timelines.

Another chapter is about to begin

Where LeBron ultimately plays next season remains one of basketball's biggest unanswered questions. Wherever he signs, the conversation surrounding him is almost certain to continue. For Savannah, that's simply become part of life around one of the most famous athletes on the planet. After more than 20 years in the spotlight, she's watched opinions about LeBron become an entire industry.

As another chapter of his Hall of Fame career approaches, one thing seems guaranteed: the discussions, debates and differing opinions aren't going anywhere.
