The college football recruiting scene in the Greater Savannah area has hit the big time in recent years as local players such as Elijah Griffin, the Savannah Christian defensive tackle now playing at Georgia and LaDamion Guyton, the Benedictine edge now at Texas Tech have made national news.
In recent weeks, Effingham County offensive lineman Jordan Dillon committed to Georgia Tech, while his teammate, defensive lineman RJ Brown, picked up an offer from Georgia.
Calvary Day has been in the news with defensive back Emerson Lewis committing to Maryland, while his classmate, safety Brexton Bell, committed to App State.
Here's a look at some more big time offers and commitments with players from the Greater Savannah area.
Jacobi Pasley finished off his junior year at Bradwell Institute on the highest of notes as the versatile athlete made Georgia High School Track and Field history by becoming the first to sweep the 100 meters, 200 meters and 400 meters in a state meet when he won all three events at the Class 5A event at the University of Georgia.
He posted personal best times of 10.44, 20.97 and 46.57 in a spectacular junior season that is drawing interest in crossover fashion from Power 4 football programs.
Also a standout receiver with the Tiger football team, Pasley had 25 catches for 435 yards and six touchdowns as a junior, when he also ran for 173 yards and four scores to earn first-team All-Region 1-5A honors.
He committed to play football at West Virginia, a school without a men's track and field team, in May. But his recruitment is far from over.
Pasley picked up an offer from the University of Georgia in June after making an official visiting on June 19 and then playing in a 7-on-7 tournament at UGA, where he showed off his receiving skills, while his Tiger team finished third.
The 5-foot-11, 180-pounder also took a trip to Vanderbilt in June and picked up an offer from the Commodores.
"I was excited to get an offer from Georgia, but I think my reaction to getting the offer was normal. I went to Athens for a private workout and then for the 7-on-7 tournament. It's obviously one of the best programs in the country and they put so many players in the NFL. We didn't talk about track and field, just football. And my trip to Vanderbilt went well, the city (Nashville) was really nice."
Effingham County has a blue-chip receiver prospect of its own in Isaiah "Zeke" Brown, a rising junior for the Rebels.
As a sophomore, Brown had 25 catches for 430 yards and five scores and was also an All-Region 1-5A selection.
The 6-foot-4, 200-pounder has the physical attributes and skillset that have made him a prime target for Power 4 programs.
Brown's recruitment reached another level at he end of the school year. He announced on X that he picked up an offer from Georgia on May 13. He also reported an offer from North Carolina and another from South Carolina last month. Florida State, Georgia Tech, Wake Forest and Louisville were ahead of the game as they extended offers to Brown in January.
The rising junior has a bright future ahead of him.
Track and field is a great sport for football athletes looking to branch out in the spring, and Benedictine's Stanley Smart Jr. has become one of the top two-sport athletes in the country as he excels in each discipline.
Smart Jr. closed out the track and field season on the Class 4A state podium after finishing second in the 100 meters in 10.52 and third in the 200 (21.60), while anchoring the Cadet 4x200 relay team that finished second.
A couple weeks earlier, Smart Jr. set his college football career in motion as the star running back committed to play at Virginia Tech.
Smart Jr. combines his blazing speed with power as the 5-foot-10, 200-pounder has the ability to blast his way between the tackles, or get to the outside where he can showcase his sprinting ability.
Last season, Smart Jr. led the Cadets with 1,004 yards rushing and 12 rushing touchdowns. He also caught 12 passes for 171 yards and a pair of scores.
Smart Jr. had more than 20 football offers on the table, including Georgia Tech, Auburn, Texas Tech and Duke, before making his commitment to Virginia Tech on April 29, according to 247sports.com.
Kenneth Baker III has made a name for himself with his stellar play and leadership on a team with no shortage of star power.
The middle linebacker led the Cavs with 69 tackles last season, with seven for losses. He added 14 quarterback hurries and five sacks as he helped the Cavs advance to the Class A-3A Private School championship game, where they lost to Hebron Christian 28-21. He was an All-Region 3-3A first-team selection.
The 6-foot, 210 pounder had 10 offers on the table including App State, Liberty, Middle Tennessee State and Mercer, before announcing his commitment to play at Arkansas State on April 27. He has picked up offers from Coastal Carolina and West Georgia since his announcement on X.
"Honestly, I committed to Arkansas State because I thought they valued me as a player and my family. They have a plan from me and showed me a lot of love. I think I can be an apex player with their defense and it's a program where I think I have the most potential with."
Baker III, known as "KB" in the Calvary program, said he will embrace the role of a senior leader on the Cavalier defense which recently had commitments from cornerback Emerson Lewis (Maryland) and safety Brexton Bell (App State).
Jenkins continues to send players to the next level as rising seniors Ronnie Taylor and Alexander Harris recently made commitments to play college football.
Taylor, a standout safety, committed to Delaware State, while Harris, a two-way lineman, committed to play at West Georgia.
Taylor was a key man on the Warrior defense last season and helped lead the team to the Region 3-3A title and to the Class 3A state quarterfinals. He had 64 tackles with seven for losses and a pair of sacks with seven passes defended and three forced fumbles last season, as he earned All-Region 3-3A second-team honors.
He had offers including Wake Forest, The Citadel and Coastal Carolina, according to 247Sports. He visited Delaware State on June 19 and announced his commitment on June 22. Taylor is also a star sprinter for the Warrior track team and has posted personal bests of 10.76 in the 100 meters and 21.92 in the 200. He was a member of the Warrior 4x100 relay team that won the Class 3A state crown in May.
Harris is a 6-foot-4, 290-pounder who was a second-team All-Region selection last season as an offensive guard for the Warriors. He announced his commitment on June 17. He held offers including UConn and Eastern Carolina.

Two Jenkins players make commitments
Jenkins continues to send players to the next level as rising seniors Ronnie Taylor and Alexander Harris recently made commitments to play college football.
