Welcome to playoff softball.
This is where regular-season success means nothing if you can’t deliver when it matters most.
The margin for error shrinks. Pressure rises. Every inning feels heavier than the last.
Twenty San Joaquin County teams started the journey on May 13. By the end of the first round, more than half were gone. Eight reached the quarterfinals on May 15.
Now, only five remain heading into the semifinal round on Tuesday, May 19.
Still standing are Tracy in Division II, Oakdale in Division IV, Escalon in Division V, Linden in Division VI, and Elliot Christian in Division VII.
So who’s up next? Which teams can make it to the championship?
Here’s the quarterfinals schedule, broken down by division from Division I through Division VII.
No. 4 Elk Grove (26-4) at No. 1 Tracy (24-1), 4 p.m.
No. 3 Oakdale (15-9) at No. 2 Central Catholic (21-8), 4 p.m.
No. 7 Escalon (13-11) at No. 3 Sutter (20-8-1), 4 p.m.
No. 3 Linden (19-6) at No. 2 Argonaut (21-8), 4 p.m.
No. 6 Golden Sierra (10-9) at No. 2 Elliot Christian (10-3), 4 p.m.
