Carolina Panthers receiver Tetairoa McMillan was named the Associated Press Offensive Rookie of the Year at“NFL Honors” on Thursday before Super Bowl 60.
In a bit of surprise, New Orleans Saints quarterback Tyler Shough received five first place votes and ultimately finished second in voting.
According to AP sportswriter Josh Dubow, this is how the voting shook out:
- Tetairoa McMillan, Carolina: 445 points (41 first-place votes)
- Tyler Shough, New Orleans: 168 (5)
- TreVeyon Henderson, New England: 111 (1)
- Jaxson Dart, New York Giants: 88 (1)
- Emeka Egbuka, Tampa Bay: 66
Others with first-place votes: Grey Zabel, Seattle (2).

Shough, who didn’t start until Week 8, put together an impressive rookie season for the Saints. The Arizona native and second-round pick finished the year with a 5-4 record, completing 67.6% of his passes for 2,384 yards, 10 touchdowns, six interceptions and a 91.3 quarterback rating.
Despite missing out on the ROY award, Shough has positioned himself as the face of the franchise in New Orleans. "I'm a makeshift New Orleanian,” Shough said after the season finale. Shortly thereafter he was named Grand Marshal of the Mardi Gras parade.

Who were the finalists?
Below are the five finalists for the award and their regular-season statistics:
- Tyler Shough: 2,384 passing yards, 10 passing touchdowns, 91.3 passer rating, 186 rushing yards, three rushing touchdowns
- Jaxson Dart: 2,272 passing yards, 15 passing touchdowns, 91.7 passer rating, 487 rushing yards, nine rushing touchdowns
- TreVeyon Henderson: 911 rushing yards, nine rushing touchdowns, 35 receptions for 221 receiving yards and one receiving touchdown
- Tetairoa McMillan: 70 receptions for 1,014 receiving yards and seven receiving touchdowns
- Emeka Egbuka: 63 receptions for 938 receiving yards and six receiving touchdowns
