Saint Mary's has made school history off the court in hopes it will help them make history on it this coming season.

The Gaels received commitment from McDonald's All-American Darius Bivins. Bivins is slated to be the first McDonald's All-American to ever play at Saint Mary's.

Bivins was impressed by the atmosphere during his visit and communication with the school.

"Opportunity to play a major role right away and the staff was transparent. The team has a brotherhood vibe," Bivins told ESPN. "Head coach Mickey McConnell is a super chill guy off the court. His plan is for me to play both on and off the ball. He played the position at Saint Mary's and he was a really good player."

Bivins had other offers from South Florida, Stanford and VCU, before ultimately selecting Saint Mary's. He's a shade under six feet tall but has a good feel for the game as a traditional point guard who can also score the ball.
