Peyton Krebs and the Buffalo Sabres weren't easily coming to a contract agreement.
That had at least raised a question of what might be next for the restricted free agent.
In the end, though, Krebs isn't going anywhere. He's signed a new deal to stick in Buffalo.
Sportsnet's Elliotte Friedman shared the news on Monday morning that Krebs has signed a four-year deal worth $3.5 million per season ($14 million in total value).
It's another step in a positive direction for a Buffalo team coming off its first playoff season in 15 years.

Krebs was a key part of the action. He played in all 82 games and finished with 12 goals and 27 assists (39 points).
The center also had 201 hits and 41 blocks shots, both career-bests.
Krebs turned 25 years old in January and continues to show he's a reliable player in the NHL. He probably won't ever be a huge scorer, but he contributes all over the ice.
He was originally the No. 17 overall pick in the 2019 NHL Draft by the Vegas Golden Knights.
Krebs came to Buffalo in the Jack Eichel trade, which means the Sabres would certainly like to keep him around and keep getting contributions while watching from afar as Eichel shines in Vegas.
Krebs played 80 games in 2023-24, 81 in 2024-25 and 82 last season, so he's about as reliable as they come. The Sabres know they can count on him, and now they've got him on board for the long haul to keep trusting that Krebs will be there when they need him.
