Rutgers gymnastics delivered its strongest performances of the season on Friday night, setting a program record on floor exercise during the Rutgers Quad at Jersey Mike’s Arena.
The Scarlet Knights posted a 49.475 on floor, breaking the previous school record of 49.425 set in 2023. The historic rotation helped Rutgers finish with a season-high team score of 196.550, the third-highest overall score in program history.
Graduate student Gabrielle Dildy led the Scarlet Knights with an outstanding all-around performance, posting a career-best 39.525. Dildy matched her career high on vault with a 9.900 and delivered a standout 9.950 on floor, one of the top scores of the night and a key routine in the record-breaking rotation.
Rutgers’ floor lineup was dominant throughout the rotation, posting a string of high scores that pushed the team past the program record. Alongside Dildy’s 9.950, the Scarlet Knights received a 9.925 from Elliot Goldsmith, helping anchor the historic performance. The team finished the rotation with five scores of 9.9 or higher, demonstrating the depth and consistency of the lineup.
The record-setting floor rotation highlighted what has been a steady upward trajectory for Rutgers as the regular season nears its conclusion.
Beyond the floor exercise, Rutgers posted strong routines across multiple events to secure its season-high score. The Scarlet Knights posted a 49.125 on bars, a 48.900 on beam, and opened with a 49.050 on vault, each anchored by multiple gymnasts.
Rutgers continued to build momentum as the meet progressed, showing improved consistency and confidence across the lineup. The strong team performance culminated in the historic floor rotation, in which the Scarlet Knights delivered one of the best event scores in program history.
The result marks another milestone for a Rutgers gymnastics program that has steadily improved in recent seasons. The Scarlet Knights have continued to raise the program standard with higher team scores and record-breaking individual performances, reflecting the growth of the program within the competitive Big Ten conference.
With the postseason approaching, the timing of Friday’s performance could not be better.
The Scarlet Knights now head toward the Big Ten Championships with momentum after producing one of their best meets of the year. If Rutgers can carry the same energy and execution into the postseason, the program could be poised for another strong finish to the season.
The performance capped a strong night in Piscataway as Rutgers continues to build momentum late in the season. The program is in position to make NCAA Regionals for the second straight season, the first time since RU went three consecutive years from 2005 to 2007. Head coach Anastasia Candia has had this program rolling since serving as the acting head coach last season following the firing of Umme Salim-Beasley.
Friday night’s record-setting performance at Jersey Mike’s Arena served as both a celebration of a historic achievement and a sign that Rutgers gymnastics is peaking at the right time.
