His name is Bonds, Peyton Bonds, and he's now part of the San Francisco Giants' organization after the franchise picked him as the No. 90 overall selection in the 2026 MLB Draft on Saturday.

Peyton played his college ball at Rutgers as an outfielder. That's not too shocking since he comes from a family of outfielders. Besides Barry, Peyton is the son of Barry's brother, Bobby Bonds Jr., and his grandfather is Bobby Bonds Sr.

That's some pretty classy MLB history in the family lineage for young Peyton to follow.

All in the family

"There will be plenty of talk around the Giants' third-round pick, who is Rutgers outfielder Peyton Bonds (Can you even imagine a 'Bonds' on the back of a Giants jersey?)," Melissa Lockard of The Athletic wrote.

"Yes, Bonds is related to Barry. He's the son of Barry's brother Bobby Bonds Jr. and, of course, the grandson of Bobby Bonds Sr. Peyton doesn't have the big power yet, but he can hit and has center-field speed. And he probably knows his way around a black and orange outfit."

Peyton is 20 years old, is 6-foot-5, and weighs 230 pounds. He was drafted in the third round by San Francisco on Saturday, placing him at the No. 90 overall spot.

When looking at his MLB pedigree, MLB.com offered some deeper insights into what Peyton can bring to a Giants' organization.

"Yes, it is that Bonds," MLB.com reported. "Peyton is the son of Bobby Jr., who played 11 years of pro ball with the Padres, Giants and in indy ball, grandson of Bobby, whose big-league career spanned 14 years, and nephew of Barry.

"Also an outfielder, Peyton Bonds went from Franklin HS in New Jersey -- where he was a teammate of A's prospect Joshua Kuroda-Grauer -- to Campbell University for his freshman year," the report continued.

Peyton Bonds ends up at Rutgers

"He then returned to the Garden State to play for Rutgers, where he had a solid sophomore season, then turned his performance up a notch this spring, though a hamstring injury suffered in an April series against UCLA kept him off the field for a spell.

"At 6-foot-5, 230 pounds, Bonds looks like he was sent down from central casting, even if his current offensive profile doesn't quite fit the body type. He has a really good feel to hit, with excellent in-zone bat-to-ball skills," according to the MLB.com report.

"There's plenty of bat speed and high exit velocities, but it hasn't translated to power just yet, with some thinking there could be more unlocked with some bat path adjustments at the next level."

Peyton has shown a depth and range in center field for the Scarlet Knights. It's obvious for anyone who has spent time around him that he carries the same burning passion for baseball as his family members.

Don't dismiss Peyton Bonds from being a future potential major-leaguer that makes his name in the MLB world. That can become another chapter in the Bonds' family history as well.
