I was looking over some stats to see how we might do in Pitts. as far as rushing goes. I noticed Pitts. is #4 in yards/game at 91.5. I also found that the '9ers were #5 at 91.7 yards/game. Soooooo, if stats mean anything, Shipp should be able to get maybe 135-145 yards this weekend. Stats dont lie, right??? :D

Didn't the 49'ers have better rushing defense stats than the Steelers prior to playing us?

I believe Shipp made mincemeat of their statistics, and they haven't quite caught back up since.

I believe Shipp will do the same to Pittsburgh.

It's tough to say with San Fran though because they are so ridiculously Jekyll and Hyde - they kill people at home and absoultely shut the run down - just as they did against the Rams last week - but they have been terrbile on the road - I wonder what all their road games look like rushing wise and see if their home games just make up that much more for their road woes - regardless, we'll find out tomorrow if Shipp can keep bruising defenses.

well - upon doing some research, the only other game the Niners run defense suffered was against the Seahawks in Seattle where they gave up 147 yards on the ground. Bottom line - I'm really interested to see how this team plays on the road tomorrow - even though Pitt is banged up and having a down season, this is a definite barometer of just how far this team has come in the last couple weeks.

We may not want to try passing against Pittsburgh either as they are # 6 in pass DEFENSE... maybe we should just punt on first down.. their DEFENSE is #2 overall!!!

Statistically, their team looks great, especially considering they are a 2-6 team. Of coarse the fact that their offense can't move the ball would lead to the other team not having much field to travel to get to the end zone might have something to do with it.

Offensively, Pittsburgh is ranked 29th in rushing. I don't know if that is because they can't run or because they are always behind.

You don't have any idea about the Steelers rushing defense do you? You don't even know very much about the linebackers either. The Steelers have faced better running backs then Shipp this year. San Fran is giving up 3.9 ypc,the Steelers 3.3. In about 19 hours, you will see why the Steelers were #1 against the run in 2001 and 2002.

Oh so you expect Shipp to just have his way. Don't worry it will be fun to come back so i can tell you that the Steelers run defense hasn't changed since last year.:p

Krang you did say highlights from last year would be the best showing of the day for the Steelers right? So if the Steelers aren't making plays, then what do you expect the game to be like then?

Why, is ESPN airing the 2001 and 2002 NFL yearbooks this afternoon?
