The Kansas City Chiefs were among many teams swirling in rumors before the official start of the offseason involving potential trades for a running back. After the signing of running back Kenneth Walker III, several names have either moved on to different teams or received lucrative contract extensions to stay put.
The Miami Dolphins were a rumored potential offseason trade partner with Kansas City in an effort to acquire running back De'Von Achane. The deal never happened, and the Pro Bowl running back is staying in Miami on a new deal.
According to reports, on Wednesday, Achane and the Dolphins agreed to a four-year, $68 million contract extension with $32 million guaranteed.
The deal comes days after the New York Jets extended Breece Hall's deal with a high-value new contract.
During the 2025 season in Miami, the former Texas A&M standout rushed for 1,350 yards for eight touchdowns. Achane's 5.7 yards per carry led the league and set an NFL record for the highest single-season yards per carry. He was named to the AFC Pro Bowl roster later in the year.
