Ruck twins Markus, Liam start NHL Draft week with college commitment, decision on Medicine Hat Tigers future originally appeared on The Sporting News. Add The Sporting News as a Preferred Source by clicking here.

Markus and Liam Ruck are going to get drafted into the NHL this week.

Ahead of the 2026 NHL Draft, though, they've made a few decisions about their future as it pertains to college hockey, as well as their time in the WHL with the Medicine Hat Tigers.

The first detail: The Ruck twins have committed to play college hockey at the University of North Dakota.

They won't go to UND this year, though. The plan is to arrive in 2027.

First, they have one more season in mind with Medicine Hat, according to hockey reporter Cam Robinson:

After a prolonged recruitment period, Liam and Markus Ruck land with the University of North Dakota.

They'll return ot Medicine Hat for 2026-27, then join UND in the fall of '27

UND has really taken care of business on the recruitment of late

MORE: It's time to ask a serious Matthew Knies question

That's big news across the board.

Medicine Hat gets another season of these star twins.

North Dakota will enjoy having them after that.

And any NHL team considering drafting these players knows what the likely development plan going forward will look like.

Markus went for 21 goals and 87 assists this season in his center position.

Liam had 45 goals and 59 assists while playing on the right wing.

There's speculation about whether they could get drafted by the same NHL team.

First, they'll have a few more years to play together, from Medicine Hat to North Dakota.
