Senior right fielder Colton Moore drove in seven runs with a homer, double and two singles to lead Terre Haute North to a 13-3 win in five innings over host Shakamak in high school baseball Monday night.

Moore was part of a nine-hit Patriots offensive that included an eight-run second inning. North's explosion came after a tight 4-3 lead through the first inning.

Five other Patriots hit safely in the win, including Aiden Dean, who had two runs batted in. Ian Samm had two hits and a RBI for Shakamak, and teammate Madden Husband doubled and drove in a run.

North starting pitcher Jaxon Ellsworth got the win, striking out three and walking none in three innings of work. Chase Millington pitched the final two innings, striking out three and yielding no hits or runs.

The win gave the Patriots a 3-2 record going into Tuesday's home game vs. Sullivan. Shakamak (0-2) plays 5:30 p.m. Friday at North Daviess.

In other high school baseball:

• Cumberland 7, Paris 6 — At Paris, Ill., a trio of Tigers pitchers combined for 11 strikeouts, but the visiting Pirates scored two decisive runs in the top of the sixth inning to secure a win Monday.

The score was knotted 5-5 going into the sixth, when Cumberland struck. Paris rallied for one run in the seventh, but it wasn't enough.

Jack Sabens went 2-for-4 at the plate for Paris (now 5-3), while Sean Dunn doubled and drove in one run. Roush, Reed and Quinn struck out 11 Cumberland batters. Lance Lock had two hits and two RBIs for the Pirates (2-6).

Paris plays 6:45 p.m. Thursday at Danville.

Prep softball

• Terre Haute North 18, Sullivan 8 — At North, a close game, deadlocked at 8-8 going into the bottom of the sixth inning, turned lopsided as the Patriots scored 10 runs to end it after six frames on Monday.

The Golden Arrows had just rallied to tie the score with four runs in the top of the sixth.

Shortstop Kenzie Zigler drove in five runs and went 4-for-5 at bat for North, including a homer and a double. Also for the Patriots, Marcia Parker had three hits, three RBI and three runs scored, while Jaleigh Lindley doubled, singled twice and drove in two runs. Walker got the pitching victory, striking out six Arrows in six innings, while walking four.

For Sullivan, Rachel Eslinger, Kate Lynn and Addie Fosdick each had two hits and a RBI.

The Golden Arrows stood 2-2 going into Tuesday's game at North Daviess. North (2-0) plays 6 p.m. Thursday at Decatur Central.

Prep girls tennis

• Sullivan 3, Vincennes Lincoln 2 — At Vincennes, the visiting Golden Arrows swept the singles matches, with wins by Ally McKinney, Mercedes Ferree and Raylee Hobbs to get the win Monday.

Sullivan took a 2-0 record into Tuesday's match at White River Valley, with at 5 p.m. Wednesday home match vs. South Knox up next.

Singles — Ally McKinney (S) def. Madison Fleck (V) 6-0, 6-1; Mercedes Ferree (S) def. JJ Riggs (V) 6-4, 6-1; Raylee Hobbs (S) def. Genesis Fonte (V) 6-0, 6-0.

Doubles — Adra Luking-Maddy Mitchell (V) def. Izzie Jenkins-Annie Dugan (S) 6-4, 5-7, 7-6 (8-6); Callie Turner-Payton Riggs (V) def. Lori Alumbaugh/Risse Dugan (S) 6-2, 7-6 (7-2).

JV — Vincennes Lincoln won 8-3.

College baseball

• Rose-Hulman routs Hanover twice — At Hanover, the visiting Engineers recorded two of their most dominant victories in program history as they mercy-ruled the host Panthers 16-0 and 23-2 in Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference play Monday.

Prior this season, Rose scored 23 or more runs only three times in school history.

In Game 1, Rose-Hulman recorded 21 hits. On the mound, Camden Judson allowed just five hits, while giving up no runs or walks and striking out 10. Issei Takahashi led the team with four hits in six at-bats, scoring two runs with two RBIs. Jackson Harms and Noah Rasmussen went 3-for-4.

In Game 2, Rose-Hulman scored 10 runs in the top of the fourth inning. Gavin Drooger got the win on the mound, improving to 5-0. He allowed just three hits and no walks, while striking out four batters in five innings. Austin Leonard would pitch just one inning, where he added three strikeouts of his own.

Jackson Summers had a career-high with five RBIs. He recorded his first career grand slam atop the fifth inning, and he added his fifth RBI one inning later. Harms recorded his team-leading fifth home run of the season, with a solo shot in the fifth inning. He hit 3-for-4 with one double, while scoring three runs.

Rose-Hulman took records of 12-10 overall and 5-4 in the HCAC into Tuesday's game at DePauw.

College softball

• Southern Illinois 13, ISU 3 — At Price Field in Terre Haute, Southern Illinois continued a strong offensive weekend and used another explosive late-game surge to defeat Indiana State in Monday's Missouri Valley Conference series finale.

The Salukis struck early for the third straight contest, jumping ahead on a two-run homer from Sydney Potter in the first inning. Indiana State threatened in the bottom half with three straight hits, but SIU starter Emily Delgado worked out of the jam to keep the Sycamores off the board. That early escape set the tone, as SIU steadily added to its lead while Indiana State struggled to capitalize on traffic throughout the first three innings.

ISU had its best offensive frame in the bottom of the sixth. The Sycamores produced four straight hits and plated three runs on RBI singles from Claire Connelly, Mallory Chavez, and Ireland Riley, cutting the deficit to 9–3 and briefly shifting momentum.

But SIU answered immediately in the seventh, loading the bases before Emily Williams delivered the decisive blow, a grand slam to center, to push the lead to 13–3 and seal the victory.

ISU (18-19 overall, 6-8 conference) continues MVC play with a series Friday and Saturday at Illinois State.

• SMWC swept on road — At New Albany, host IU-Southeast completed a doubleheader sweep of Saint Mary-of-the-Woods in River States Conference play on Monday, earning 10-2 and 3-1 victories.

In Game 1, Indiana Southeast (15-13) used an early surge and a five-run fourth inning to pull away for a 10-2 win in five innings. The Grenadiers scored three runs in the first and added insurance throughout, while the Pomeroys (7-20 going into Tuesday's home game vs Midway) plated two runs in the fifth.

Caeden Bennett led SMWC offensively with two hits, including a double, while Kyar McVey also recorded two hits. Jenna Baker drove in a run as part of the fifth-inning push.

In Game 2, SMWC battled in a tighter contest before IU-Southeast broke through late for a 3-1 victory. The Pomeroys struck first in the second inning when Rayven Wilson delivered an RBI single. Lanna Martinez turned in a strong effort in the circle for SMWC, tossing a complete game while allowing three runs (two earned) over six innings. Offensively, Jazlynn Ward and Carley Werremeyer each recorded two hits as the Pomeroys finished with seven.

College track

• ISU jumper leads Barbados — At St. George's, Guyana, Indiana State freshman jumper Aaron Massiah competed on the international stage Sunday and Monday, recording a pair of top-five finishes for his native Barbados in the annual Caribbean Free Trade Association Games.

Massiah, who joined the Sycamores prior to the start of the 2025-26 track and field season, claimed bronze in the Under-20 triple jump and also finished fourth in the U20 long jump. His performance in the triple jump was one to remember, soaring to a career-best mark of 50 feet, .75 inches to earn his third career CARIFTA medal and first at the U20 level.

The Sycamore freshman also recorded marks of 49-3.75 and 49-2.25, all above his previous best of 48-8, set with ISU at the Crossroads of America Invitational during the recent indoor season. Massiah recorded a pair of long jump marks of 23-4.25 Sunday morning to place fourth in the event.

Massiah is coming off an indoor season in which he recorded top-five finishes in both the long jump and triple jump at the MVC Indoor Championships.

• Woods' Smith tops — Saint Mary-of-the-Woods thrower Jerahmia Smith, a senior from Phoenix, Ariz., has been named the River States Conference (RSC) Men’s Outdoor Field Athlete of the Week for the second consecutive week.

Smith continued his standout outdoor campaign with a strong performance at the Pacesetter Invitational on April 4. Competing in a field of 33 athletes in the shot put, Smith recorded a mark of 16.39 meters to finish third overall. His performance placed him behind two NCAA Division I competitors and stands as the top shot put mark in the RSC this season.
