Aphtyn Earley doubled and drove in four runs, while Mylee Vandevender pitched a one-run, one-hit game to lead Sullivan to an 11-1 victory over host North Knox in high school softball Monday.
Offensively, Vandevender had two hits, an RBI and a run scored. Jaylynn Hobbs and Hadley Newton also had RBIs for the Golden Arrows.
The win gave Sullivan an 8-4 overall record going into Tuesday's home game vs. Cascade. North Knox fell to 3-6.
In other high school softball:
• Clay City 12, White River Valley 5 — At Switz City, Caroline Rexrode went 5 for 5 and drove in four runs to lead the visiting Eels to a SouthWestern Indiana Athletic Conference victory Monday.
Clay City starting pitcher Lizzy Sinders added two hits and two RBIs, while Kambryn Rhodes two hits and an RBI and Faith Mitchell went 3 for 5 with a double, three runs scored and an RBI. Charli Walters picked up the pitching victory with 4 1/3 innings of four-hit relief work.
Leia Fulford had two RBIs for WRV.
The win sent Clay City into Tuesday game at Riverton Parke with records of 7-1 overall and 3-0 in the SWIAC. WRV is now 0-4 and 0-2.
Prep tennis
• Sullivan 3, South Vermillion 2 — At Clinton, Sullivan won two singles matches and a doubles match to edge the host Wildcats in girls action Monday.
The Golden Arrows (6-1) play host to West Vigo on Wednesday.
Singles — Jaci McClain (SV) def. Ally McKinney 6-4, 6-7(3-7), 6-4; Mercedes Ferree (S) def. Ali Cunning 6-1, 6-1; Izzie Jenkins (S) def. Olivia Thomas 6-1, 6-1.
Doubles — Jordan Luse-Sophie Thomas (SV) def. Jacie Wilson-Emma Couch 6-4, 6-2; Cabela Golish-Isabelle Harris (S) def. Mia Garzolini-Olivia Thomas 6-2, 6-4.
JV — Sullivan won 8-2.
• Paris 8, Charleston 1 — At Paris, Ill., the host Tiger boys swept the singles matches and all but one doubles match to down visiting Charleston on Monday.
Now 4-2, Coach Stefan Aydt's Paris squad takes on Robinson on Wednesday.

Men's golf
• Pomeroys take 10th — At Noblesville, Saint Mary-of-the-Woods finished 10th at the Sagamore Shootout, hosted by Indiana Wesleyan on Monday at The Sagamore Club, a par-72, 7,040-yard Jack Nicklaus-designed course.
The Pomeroys posted team rounds of 334 and 327 for a total score of 661 (85-over par) in a deep 13-team field. Marian and Indiana Wesleyan shared the team title, each finishing at 606 (30-over).
For SMWC, Benjamin Goshen, Justin Hopkins and Brevin Cooper all finished tied for 43rd with 21-over 165s. Goshen carded rounds of 82 and 83, Hopkins shot 84-81, and Cooper posted 83-82. Marian’s Weston Ogden captured medalist honors with a 3-over-par 147, highlighted by a tournament-low 69 in the second round.
The Pomeroys compete Friday and Saturday at the Millikin Invitational in Decatur, Illinois.
College softball
• Engineer hurls no-hitter — Rose-Hulman picked up two wins in a doubleheader against Blackburn on Monday, winning by scores of 5-0 and 12-0.
Rose (now 12-10) got a stellar pitching performance in the first game as Aubrey Smith got the shutout win and a no-hitter, finishing with seven strikeouts in seven innings. Katelyn Sarvis led the team at the plate, going 2 for 3 with one run and one RBI.
Rose-Hulman continued to dominate in the second half of the doubleheader. Phoebe Worstell picked up the win in the circle, going 5.0 innings with seven strikeouts. Gabriella Ezzell finished a perfect 3-3 at the plate with two runs scored, two home runs and five RBIs.
Rose-Hulman plays a 3 p.m. doubleheader Wednesday at Hanover.
College track
• Sycamore tops MVC — Indiana State thrower Wyatt Puff was tabbed the Missouri Valley Conference Men’s Field Athlete of the Week on Tuesday afternoon after a season-best and record-breaking performance at the Gibson Invitational.
Puff broke the ISU men's shot-put record, which had stood for nearly 20 years, marking the second straight week that a Sycamore thrower broke a school record. His mark of 60 feet, 7.25 inches on his third attempt won him the invite section of the shot put at the Gibson Invitational, beating a pair of nationally ranked athletes from Northern Iowa and took down the previous program record of (60-4.5), which was originally set in 2006 and matched in 2023.
In addition, he also recorded a season-best mark of (180-7) in the invite section of the discus, placing second behind only teammate Noah Bolt.
Puff’s shot put mark is second in the MVC, sixth in the Great Lakes Region, 18th in NCAA East Qualifying and 41st nationally. His mark in the discus is third in the MVC, sixth in the Great Lakes Region, 25th in NCAA East Qualifying and 69th nationally. Puff is a three-time NCAA East First Round qualifier (2021, 2022, 2023).
